London: Pakistani student Hassam Naeem, originally from Lahore, has been re-elected as the Vice President of Queen Mary University of London Students’ Union (QMSU) for a second consecutive term.
Hassam secured victory against Indian candidate Zaid, who received 1,009 votes in the initial round, while Hassam maintained a lead with 1,228 votes. By the fifth round, Hassam’s vote count increased to 1,259, confirming his win.
The Queen Mary Students’ Union represents over 33,000 students, playing a crucial role in addressing their academic, social, and welfare concerns.
During his previous term, Hassam worked on several impactful projects, including securing £2.2 million (approximately 84 crore PKR) in scholarships for international students. He also collaborated with other Russell Group university unions to conduct an international student survey aimed at urging the UK government to improve policies affecting overseas students.
Hassam’s re-election is seen as a testament to his effective leadership, dedication, and popularity among students. His success has also been celebrated by the Pakistani community, highlighting the achievements of Pakistani students in the UK.
